Electronic dance music as we know and love it didn’t emerge out of a petri dish one day in the early 90s. Neither did Buenos Aires-raised, now Berlin-based DJ and producer Volpe. Like the music he thrives in, he took quite a musical journey to get where he stands today. Volpe’s artistic roots reach deep into the rich tradition of Jazz music, grounded in its complex harmonics and sense of movement. He calls on Funk’s driving grooves and its captivating swing. He draws from the sonic textures of Dub and Reggae, full of echo, reverb and phasers, and throbs with the rhythmic pulse of the origin of techno and house music. He takes those influences not only as historical references but as present inspirations and pours all of them into his musical processes, giving his sound a true means to connect. Volpe builds sonic journeys for his audiences, blending genres from Detroit to Dub, from Tribal to Hardgroove, and all the way back, to create moments of genuine communion on the dance floor. For over a decade the versatile artist stood on the very forefront of Buenos Aires’ electronic underground, shaping the spirits of its dancers while honing his skills in the booth as well as in the studio. Now he has taken up residence in Berlin, one of the beating hearts of the global electronic music community. From there Volpe sets out to provide listeners and dancers around the world with his unique artistic perspective, his musical vigor, and his indubitable technical mastery. Watch out!
